What's the Ideal Podcasting Device?

As a long time iPod user, I was recently given a cool Flash-based MP3 Player from Digital Mind, which I'm now using for Podcasts. It's changed my thinking a bit.

It's small, easy to transfer files onto, and has great sound. It's a lot more convenient than an iPod to carry around, and it has a UI, unlike the Shuffle. And it's under $100.

I'm thinking this sort of device may be the best Podcast listening device, if all you're doing is listening to Podcasts.

I'm interested to hear comments from you about what you're looking for in a dedicated Podcast device. Am I on target? Crazy?

Let me know...

I only listen to spoken word. So, high fidelity is not a requirement.

I just want something that is easy to load up. The files must be is a specific order. I had to write a .bat file to load up my RCA Lyra 1072 MP3 player in order, one file at a time, because copy *.mp3 to I:\ seemed to put them in random order.

My player only remembers the track that was playing when I powered down, not the precise place. So, I have to chop my podcasts into 2-minute segments. That is a real pain.

I would like a little more information in the display window.

I use Creative's Muvo200 (I actually have 2--1 gb for music & 512mb for audio (podcast etc).

The fact that I can just plop the files in on the run (without using any special software if I don't want to bother)--it shows up as an extra temporary drive I can move stuff to--is a boon.

The 512mb version is way too small though even for recorded spoken word...I like to have a large selection of audio to choose from. 1 GB is more like it.

In addition I have the 5GB Creative ZenMicro for more permanent listening choices.

Slightly off the topic, but the best thing for copying files to a device (IMHO) is Allway Sync. The killer feature is the Syncing on Connection of the device. Check out my review of it here:
