Howard Stern and Sirius need a clue

It seems people are bypassing Sirius and getting the Howard Stern show every day from file sharing services, according to the L.A. Times.

How long until Sirius makes the Stern show available over the Web? I have a Sirius subscription, and I can't listen unless I have my Sirius receiver handy, with a clear view of the eastern skies. Stern's show isn't available online. What if I want to listen in the office? Or in my basement? How dumb is Sirius management?

Anyone who knows anything about the history of Web media will see it's in Sirius's best interest to make Stern available over the Web. Look at how (the original) Napster forced the Music Companies to make songs available for download. And now witness how BitTorrent is forcing TV shows to be able to be purchased via Google, iTunes, and many more upcoming services. And these services are SUCCESSFUL!

Yeah - I know $500M is a lot of money, and you want every Stern fan to become a Sirius subscriber to recoup that investment. (Not to mention the cost of launching that satellite.) But if you can't deliver the show to your listeners in places that don't have a view of the eastern sky, then people are going to find ways to get it for free. Or just move on to Podcasts and other media. The number of fans Stern is losing every day must be enormous. They've gotta be concerned.

XM lets you subscribe for online listening only - why not Sirius? For customers, these services are all about the content, and not the delivery mechanism.

I predict Stern will be available for paid online listening within 6 months. And although it should be done ASAP, it probably won't be. C'mon Sirius - prove me wrong!

Howard has stated publicly that they are working on it. No-one has ever tried to stream at the volume he is going to, so it is taking time to set up the servers.

Every one of us is unique, even in the capacity, attitude and others; we have something that we like that most people hate. But sometimes the things we hear and watch affect us. That's why some of us are going with the flow and trying to be in the latest fad. But, do you know that this is what really makes us unique? We don't have to listen to what others might say, because you know you are just being you. We don't have to pretend if we really know what we want. We are just voicing out and showing them that we are unique. It is just like in voting. Last election some of us is not really that informed voter. There are people that their votes are based on the polls. If you are well informed and you really think not just once but many times before choosing your candidate, then at the end you will not regret. The time for the election is a vivid picture that we can voiced-out our opinions by choosing our candidates that is not only preferable to the position but also will give us the financial freedom and will hear us. I hope the American people truly deliberated on the current issues before casting their vote in the November 4th election. It would be nice to believe that most of you did, but in actuality, I know that many of the people’s political choices are less than studied. I’m sure some have studied more whether to take out a payday advance than what the issues are in the election. For instance, check out “The Howard Stern Show” and listen to this brief audio clip that was recently posted. Roving Reporter Sal roamed the streets in Harlem, New York to acquire opinions from men and women, determining whether they supported Barack Obama or John McCain as President. In actuality, the purpose was to determine whether African-Americans would automatically vote for Obama simply because he’s black. By taking McCain’s policies and disguising it as Obama’s, Sal discovered shocking responds. He discussed issues like the pro-life argument, stem cell research, the war in Iraq and who Sarah Palin is – placing McCain’s positions to Obama's. He gets many of them to admit they support Obama regardless of what his policies are. This activity has really exposed the ugly truth of some of our ignorance of the issues. I just hope that people really thought about the real problems when casting their vote for the presidential election.
