6 Countries Digital Nomads Can Move to Right Now

Recently, global travel restrictions have made it difficult for many of us to travel outside of the United States. With the majority of people no longer working in a physical office and unlikely to return to one in the near future, the itch to travel is even greater. The flexibility of remote work only amplifies this desire, as all you really need for your virtual office  is a computer, phone, good internet connection, and the latest version of Replay Capture Suite

Photo and video editing experts Fix the Photo recommend Replay Capture Suite and its impressive suite of programs to capture any online video and audio. Each program comes with a straightforward interface and loads of resources to get started. Fix the Photo notes that Replay Telecorder will come especially in handy for those working remotely during the “new normal”. While for video and photo editing experts, Replay Media Splitter helps streamline their workflow, offering a host of video and audio editing capabilities.

In response to the shift to remote work, a number of countries have made digital nomad visas available to foreigners — in the case of six countries, U.S. nationals are also eligible to apply. For those of us seeking a change of scenery, these are the six countries that you can move your virtual office to right now.

Antigua and Barbuda

Digital nomads earning at least $50,000 annually can live and work on the islands of Antigua and Barbuda for up to two years, thanks to the country’s Nomad Digital Residence Program. At the time of writing the cost to apply is $1,500 for a single applicant, $2,000 for a couple and $3,000 for a family of three or more.

To enter the country, visa holders must present a negative coronavirus test within one week of arrival, and are monitored for any symptoms for up to 14 days.

Aruba

As part of Aruba’s recently announced One Happy Workation program, U.S. visitors can stay up to 90 days by booking a package-stay program at a participating hotel, villa or condominium. Applicants are not required to book a participating stay but the website includes many attractive options to choose from!

Barbados

The Barbados Welcome Stamp program allows visitors earning at least $50,000 annually, including U.S. nationals, to stay on the island visa-free for up to one year. At the time of writing, the online application fee is $2,000 for individuals and $3,000 for families. Those traveling to Barbados for remote work or pleasure during the pandemic must follow new travel protocols.

Jamaica

U.S. nationals are able to travel to Jamaica, however the entry requirements vary depending on the state. Those who identify as business travelers will be given a coronavirus test upon entry into the country. While most travelers are given a 30-day visa on arrival, they can apply for the longer stay visa for digital nomads.

Estonia

On August 1, the Republic of Estonia launched its digital nomad visa that allows foreigners to stay in Estonia for up to a year. Applicants must earn a gross monthly salary of at least 3,000 euros (about $3,530) for a remote job, which is an extension of Estonia’s e-Residency program for foreign entrepreneurs.

At the time of writing, U.S. nationals are not able to visit the country for tourism-related purposes, but they are allowed in for the purpose of work or study. On arrival, foreigners must self-quarantine for 14 days.

Georgia

Lastly, on July 16 this tiny country bordering Russia and the Black Sea, announced a new program for foreigners to work remotely from the country. Applicants will be able to apply soon, and must provide proof of employment, as well as consent to self-quarantine for 14 days to be considered. As in the case of Estonia, U.S. Nationals are not able to enter Georgia for tourism, and must be granted a long-term visa of at least six months, traveling for business with a special permit or a spouse of a Georgian citizen.

While the “new normal” has made everyday pleasures like international travel difficult for many of us, select countries are beginning to open up their borders, particularly to digital nomads. If you have the flexibility and are already working outside of a physical office, consider one of the six countries mentioned above for a change of scenery.

Plus, thanks to Replay Media Catcher, you can conveniently download every moment to watch offline, anywhere you want. So what are you waiting for? Grab that blanket, fire up Amazon Prime Video, and get started with some of these unmissable options from across the pond… ready to stream now.

Man vs. Wild

Drinking yak blood, eating a moose heart, and sleeping inside a camel… Think you could survive out in the wild? Maybe not… But you can watch all of Bear Grylls’ amazing wilderness feats from the safety of your sofa as he shows you how to survive when stranded in the world’s harshest environments. Brace yourself for edge-of-your-seat action in this series packed full of fascinating tips and stunning landscapes. It’s exhilarating, and educational, all at the same time.

Howards End

Expect beautiful costumes, very “proper” British accents and some incredible scenery in this TV adaptation of E.M. Forster’s Howards End. Follow the Schlegel sisters as they embark on their journey to seek love and meaning in a world that clashes with their independent and unconventional sensibilities. It’s a period drama that packs a punch, and will quickly have you hooked.

Blackadder

This timeless British comedy series has been a favorite for generations, and for good reason. The show follows the trials, and more often than not, failures of Edmund Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson), a plotting and scheming character looking to do whatever it takes to secure an easy-going life for himself. Each season finds Blackadder and his useless sidekick Baldrick in a different time period, with a different boss and different challenges, but the same old disappointing results. Also starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, Blackadder is an age-old, laugh-a-minute series that’s not to be missed.

Wuthering Heights

Nothing gets more British than a dark and stormy hillside, and Wuthering Heights is full of them. Starring Kaya Scodelario and directed by Andrea Arnold (of American Honey and Fish Tank), this is an exciting and fresh take on the classic novel by Emily Brontë. Get ready for brooding stares, wind-whipped landscapes and tension you could cut with a knife in this superb British adaptation of the all-time favorite book.

Under the Skin

If we ever needed a reminder not to accept a ride from a stranger, then this should do the trick. Under the Skin stars an English-accented Scarlett Johanssen as the creepy, murderous, van-driving alien (yep, you heard that right) who preys on the unsuspecting men of Glasgow — picking them up, and leaving them never to be seen again. With striking and shocking imagery from director Jonathan Glazer, this movie offers a mind-bending experience that leaves you tip-toeing between the unwaveringly mundane of drizzly Glasgow, and the fantasy of Johanssen’s otherworldly underworld. You’ll leave this movie full of questions, but that’s all part of the fun.

I, Daniel Blake

Directed by Ken Loach, this Cannes and BAFTA winner tells the story of a widowed carpenter and a single mother who form a formidable bond in their struggle against the complicated and unforgiving British welfare system. Chronicling the reality of daily life for many working-class Brits just struggling to get by, I, Daniel Blake treats its characters with warmth and humanity, when the system treats them as nothing more than a number. It’s a heartwrencher and an eye-opener that will be sure to stick with you.

Tolkien

Nicholas Hoult stars as J.R.R. Tolkien, the incredible author behind the The Lord of the Rings series, in this biopic that covers Tolkien’s early life, career at Oxford University, and the friendships and relationships that defined him. Directed by Dome Karukoski and also starring Lily Collins, it’s a beautifully-shot movie that also takes us up to the outbreak of the First World War and the life-changing events that would inspire his famous Middle-earth novels. This one’s a must-watch for movie-lovers and literature-enthusiasts alike.

King Lear

Acting heavyweights Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson and Emily Watson are unstoppable forces in this modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare’s King Lear. With the play (thankfully) cut down to a more manageable 2 hours, this is Shakespeare not as you know it: think martial arts, helicopters and British military uniforms, to name a few. Plus, with a star turn for Florence Pugh, there’s more than enough acting mastery for you to enjoy on screen. Don’t miss it.

So, now you know which British blockbusters to watch next on Amazon Prime Video, don’t forget that you can catch them all to watch again, anytime, anywhere, with Replay Media Catcher for PC and Mac. It’s the world’s most powerful, convenient online video downloader, capable of saving your content in just one click at up to 10x the playback speed! How to Record Twitch Live Stream

Twitch is taking the world by storm, and its popularity continues to grow at a rapid pace. Current statistics show that the live streaming platform boasts 140 million monthly users, with 3.8 million streamers in February of this year alone. Compared to February two years prior, the number of streamers sat at around 2.2 million. This puts Twitch well ahead of many traditional media outlets like MSNBC and CNN in terms of viewership. In addition, many YouTube users are switching to Twitch citing YouTube’s strict creator guidelines and rigid Partner program as two main reasons.

Twitch was introduced in 2011 and primarily focused on video games and eSports live streaming. Today, users can browse channels of nearly every genre, from cooking to fitness to “just chatting” videos — there’s something for everyone. The best part about Twitch, and what makes it so attractive to its users, is that each channel is a community. Those tuning in to a live stream benefit from the entertainment factor, while being made to feel as if they’re spending time with friends.

With so many channels to choose from and people to interact with, the only question that remains is: where does one begin? Start with the list of trending channels and go from there — you’ll be surprised at the variety of channels to choose from.

And, to make sure that you don’t miss a single moment from your favorite channel live streams, cue up Replay Video Capture to get recording. It’s the highest quality video capture software for any online video. It can expertly record Twitch live streams playing on your PC screen with perfect quality.

How to Plan a Successful Virtual Annual Company Meeting

Woman working on a

Usually the start of September means “back to school” for students, and the end of summer vacation for many of us. For a lot of companies, it’s also the start of strategic planning and annual meetings to hit the ground running after employees return to work. While some students and employees will be physically returning to school and their offices, many will continue to keep their learning online and work remotely for the foreseeable future. As a result, companies will need to navigate a remote work environment, or, in companies where employees have returned to the office already, some changes will need to be made − workflows, meetings and schedules will need to be adapted to comply with new restrictions.

For companies that typically hold an annual company meeting for their employees, this will likely mean a shift to a virtual meeting format, with employees joining via their own workstation − in the office or from home. A virtual annual company meeting requires additional planning and different tools than what we’d expect from an in-person meeting format − especially for companies who will be running a virtual meeting for the first time. For those wanting to ensure that this year’s annual meeting goes off without a hitch, we’ve rounded up some helpful tips and resources to get you there.

Use a Reliable Video Conferencing Software

Recently, we featured six top video conferencing platforms — from Zoom to Skype to Google Hangouts. Each platform comes with its own unique set of features, and depending on the call, one may be a better fit over the others. When it comes to an annual company meeting, where the number of participants is likely to be high, we recommend opting for an enterprise-grade solution like Zoom or Skype for Business. You’re less likely to need to worry about call quality and software-related glitches, and can ensure that all participants have a productive experience.

Engage Participants with Interactive Components

Annual company meetings are typically longer, sometimes multi-day events. Organizers must consider how to keep participants engaged throughout the duration of the meeting, particularly in an online setup. Consider incorporating interactive components throughout the meeting, such as live polling and surveys, and a social wall (a live social media feed), with the help of tools like Whova. Participants may find it difficult to concentrate during a long, online meeting due to distractions in the form of other applications, notifications, and without the ability to be fully present as is the case in an in-person meeting. Interactive components can not only keep participants engaged and focused, but also ensure that they are retaining information.

Share Meeting Documents and Presentations via the Cloud

Google and Dropbox are two of our favorite tools for better productivity and collaboration. Both are easy to use, offer integrations with other software and e-mail, and are an ideal way to share files amongst co-workers. Consider sharing meeting documents and presentations with participants in the cloud − either before or after the meeting. This way, participants needn’t have to focus on jotting down every detail during the meeting, but instead can focus on the presentations and conversations without missing any key points.

Enable Live Video Recording

Finally, a newer technique being adopted by remote-operating businesses (and those using video conferencing) is to use a video recording solution in tandem with notes and minutes with tools like Replay Telecorder. Meeting participants are able to refer back to a particular presentation for further reference, or those unable to attend the live viewing can get up to speed on what was discussed. Replay Telecorder is the most powerful, easy-to-use video conference recorder out there − you can record virtual annual company meetings held on Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, Join.me, GoToMeeting, and every other application you can think of with perfect accuracy.

With simple, one-click recording and a fast background mode to capture and multi-task, it’s a super-efficient solution to recording and saving every virtual business meeting, brainstorm, and more. Check out the user guide to see how easy it is to get started.

Best True Crime Podcasts of All Time

After a long day of work and running errands, we all crave some downtime. When we’ve already made it to the bottom of our Watch List on Netflix, but still crave some entertainment, nothing beats a riveting podcast to wind down for the evening. One of our favorite podcast genres is true crime — some of the best storytelling goes on here! If you’re like us and looking to dive into some amazing tales that feature award-winning storytelling, we’ve got the list to get you started! Check out the 5 best true crime podcasts of all time, that we still can’t get enough of…

Serial (Season 1)

If you can believe it, we first mentioned this fan-favorite podcast all the way back in 2014! It’s the year 2020 and Serial is on its third season at the time of writing, but we still can’t get over the first one. From the very first episode, you won’t be able to tear yourself away as you’re taken back to Baltimore in 1999, and hear the story of Hae Min Lee, a popular high-school senior, who disappears after school one day.

Six weeks after her disappearance, detectives arrest her classmate and ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, for her murder. He maintains his innocence but Adnan also can’t exactly remember what he was doing on that January afternoon. A classmate at Woodlawn High School is sure she saw Adnan in the school library at the time of Hae’s murder. The trouble is, she’s nowhere to be found.

The Vanished

The Vanished is a weekly podcast that focuses on the stories and circumstances of missing people — hosted, narrated and written by Marissa Jones. The show’s aim is to focus on and bring attention to cases that never made it to national headlines or are long-standing cold cases, typically involving people who are drug users or sex workers. Each episode features interviews with the friends and family of the missing person, and on occasion with local law enforcement.

Wrongful Conviction

Wrongful Conviction, hosted by Jason Flom, is a podcast about tragedy, triumph, and injustice within the justice system.. Based on the files of the lawyers who represent them, joined by other criminal justice activists and experts, the podcast features interviews with men and women who have spent years in prison for crimes they did not commit – some of them having even been sentenced to death. From the lesser-known to high-profile such as that of American Amanda Knox, you won’t forget their stories.

Dirty John

The Dirty John podcast was released in October 2017 and quickly received immense public praise — so much so that Netflix picked up on the hype and produced a TV series based on the true story of Debra Newell, a successful interior designer, and the man she meets: John Meehan. John is the kind of man Debra has been waiting for: handsome, attentive, available, and recently returned from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. Debra’s family doesn’t like John however, and they become grossly entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival.

Criminal

Hosted and co-created by Phoebe Judge, Criminal is an award-winning podcast that features stories of people who’ve “done wrong, been wronged, or gotten caught somewhere in the middle.” The podcast launched in January 2014, with new episodes coming out twice a month, and is now one of the most popular podcasts in the world. New York Magazine describes the show’s writing as marvelous, clearly depicting crime as “something sociological, historical, even anthropological — that crime is a function of people, time, and place.” Tune in to check it out for yourself!

Now that you have your choice of the best true crime podcasts of all time — as we see it, anyway — all you need is to get recording so that you can play your episodes on repeat like we do! Not sure how to get started? Check out our handy tutorial to Replay Radio, and start feeding your affinity for true crime podcasts.
