Record a Concert this Hall-O-Ween Night

No, I didn’t mispell Halloween in that title. Be sure to catch a very special edition of Live From Daryl’s House tonight. Daryl Hall that is. Tonight on Yahoo Screen’s Live Nation Channel you can watch “Hall-O-Ween and Oates”. This sold out concert also marks the public opening of Daryl’s new venue in Pawling, New York. The live concert begins at 9PM PT / 6PM ET  and will replay for 24 hours. I’ll definitely be recording it with Replay Video Capture.

I’ve recently discovered the Live from Daryl’s House monthly web series and I’ve become addicted to the show’s archives. The premise is so inviting, you just can’t turn away. Daryl invites some legendary rockers over to his amazing old farmhouse (which he has lovingly restored), for some unforgettable jam sessions. It’s just a room full of incredibly talented musicians having a blast singing each others songs. The series is very well done technically,  and Daryl sounds better than ever. And, he’s aged pretty darn well. Can a 70’s/ 80’s rocker actually get cooler with age? Daryl sure has.

There are currently 68 episodes of LFDH available to watch. Our favorites from the archives include: Darius RuckerZZ Top’s Billy GibbonsJoe WalshRob ThomasKT TunstallBrett Dennen, oh man…I could keep going. Just go browse the archives and listen for yourself. And they’re all downloadable with Replay Media Catcher.

Tonight’s live show is bound to be a nostalgic trip back to the 80’s, but sounding better than ever. And if you’re busy trick-or-treating with your little ghouls and gobblins, recording the show is easy with Replay Video Capture  Here’s a quick tutorial on how to set it up to record anything at a scheduled time.

Enjoy the show!

Netflix Conflix: Happy Halloween

Can’t decide what to watch and record? We’re here to the rescue! There’s no better time all year than the week of Halloween (yes, we consider it a week-long holiday) to watch horror films. On this edition of “Netflix Conflix” we’ve rounded up some of the scary picks that Netflix is currently offering through streaming that you should record with Replay Video Capture before they disappear online – plus, you can keep them in your arsenal for next Halloween! Need help recording from Netflix? Just watch this helpful tutorial:

Fright Night
: Time has done this film well. This is the movie that re-imagined vampires for a whole generation, in fact, a generation that re-created the vampire into your worst Twilight-related nightmare. Regardless, Fright Night still provides something fun for everyone and we would also recommend the Colin Ferrel re-boot from 2011 that’s shockingly on-point with the classic.

Detention: This is a horror film with serious ADD. But its fast-paced wit makes it nervously enjoyable. Chalk-full of 90s / 00s pop culture references that keep it funny and on the comedy-side of things. No doubt, in a few years, this will be a cult hit. If you “get it” then you’ll enjoy the film — not a horror film for everyone and prepare yourself for a story that jumps all over the place.

The StuffIf you want something straight-up funny, make sure you keep The Stuff around for genuine giggles. The special effects are campy as they try to make infesting goo seem scary. (Hint: it’s not) But the acting is surprisingly great and there’s enough 80s ridiculousness to have a delightful viewing — you just might want to choose something other than yogurt, ice cream, or whipped cream to eat while watching.

All The Boys Love Mandy LaneThis movie isn’t particularly scary. But it’s uniquely suspenseful. The characters are heightened stereotypes and Amber Heard is (as always) pretty darn good-looking, but there’s something that keeps it all entertaining. In typical slasher-flick style, this group of teenagers is sex-crazy and totally over-the-top. Expect gore and an interesting twist at the end.

Hellraiser:
Since this was the first sighting of Pinhead, and created a franchise that lasts nine movies and almost three decades, it’s worth getting a look at just why this created such a stir. Sure, it’s got the effects of your typical 80s horror movie, but Hellraiser does an astonishing job with makeup tricks and in-camera effects that make it worth watching. Also, if you don’t think the zombie-corpse crawling across the floor isn’t freaky, then we don’t know what is.

Netflix Conflix: Our Picks Leaving October 1st

Netflix is constantly rearranging its offerings of movies and television shows, which means that every month, there’s a whole new batch to view and fall in love with. Unfortunately, that also means that another handful of great cinema gets pushed off streaming. Here are our picks for you to hurry and record with Replay Video Capture before they disappear online (at least, for free – for now).

GHOSTBUSTERS I & IIThis is the ideal 80s movie, made complete with campy humor, heart throughout, suspicious special effects, and Bill Murray. Recording these two enjoyable pieces of cinematic charm is a wise move, so you can enjoy them when you’ve got nothing to watch. Save them for a long rainy day, and rejoice in melting giant marshmallows in hot chocolate.

BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA: Francis Ford Coppola’s amazing tribute to the classic horror tale has more juicy trivia  in it than most mystery thrillers. One of the most well known elements of the film are the in-camera effects that Coppola insisted on. After firing a team of effect supervisors, he hired his 29 year-old son, Roman, to take the helm. Look for them and read up, it’s pretty magical. Oh, and the movie itself is brilliant with performances by Gary Oldman as Dracula and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICAA sci-fi pillar, this television show proved that a complex space series could function without the Star Trek umbrella. Unlike the latter more episodic-based television, BSG retains a narrative that stretches over four seasons to unveil a rich cast of characters and compelling plot. After a terrifyingly advanced enemy (the Cylons) destroys the 12 colonies, a fleet of military and civilian ships are the only thing remaining of humanity, where they are left traveling through space to find the mythical Earth. Even if sci-fi isn’t your thing, BSG makes everyone a believer. By recording and having the series on-hand, you can get anyone at anytime on the Battlestar bandwagon.

MEAN GIRLS: This 2004 movie is one that is a staple for a particular generation – for what it’s worth – and is the stuff of sound bytes and repeatable quotes. You’ll be wearing pink on Wednesdays after Mean Girls marathons. It is the best teen film since Clueless and with a screenwriter like Tina Fey behind it; you know it’s full of perfect one-liners and comedic timing. Enjoy the more sober, less troubled Lindsay Lohan and save this movie for the next round of teenagers who need a lesson on how to survive high school and beyond.

So what are you waiting for? These cinematic gems are leaving Netflix Streaming in a few days, so fire up your Replay Video Capture and record your favorites for future repeat watchings!

Best Media Sites: LOL Edition

So you know about YouTube and Netflix. But what about those undiscovered gems around the Internet just ripe for the downloading? Check out these Replay Media Catcher compatible sites. Note that not all sites are viewable in all countries.

This month, we wanted to feature the sites that tickle our funny bone, make us spit take, and get us smiling from ear to ear. Here are five fantastic sites that you are definitely going to want to download video from, and keep forever… because laughter is contagious and continual.

FUNNY OR DIE:

The celebrity-endorsed platform for hilarious series and one-offs, where you can catch the very watch worthy “Drunk History” and “Between Two Ferns With Zack Galifinakis” along with a ton of other giggle-making sketches.

CRACKED:

More centered on Internet memes and pop culture, Cracked offers some humorous takes on everything from Doctor Who to Kanye West. Also, check out the “Artist In Residency Program” where they feature a filmmaker hand-picked for your viewing pleasure.

CHEEZBURGER:

The OG funny video site still has quite a bit of life – and not as many cat memes. With a new Video section in Beta, they are experimenting with a whole channel devoted to Cheez-approved YouTube content. Don’t worry; there are still cat videos.

THE CHIVE:

This site is full of hilarious distractions. Everything from GIFs, to listicles, to random factoids, you can loose yourself for hours on The Chive. If you’re looking to capture some funny, watch and record their trending videos for a clue as to what will be popping up in your Facebook feed next.

COLLEGE HUMOR:

Another classic funny video site, College Humor has been serving up the chuckles for 15 years, and boasts an impressive collection of original series and sketches. Our personal favorite is “Phantom of the Office” – we’d hire him just to keep us laughing.

As always, be sure to use only the best to download your favorite videos and media using Replay Media Catcher. If you’ve got a favorite video outlet on the web, be sure to give us the low-down in the comments or on our Facebook Page.

Download Recent World Cup Games with Replay Media Catcher

Download recent World Cup games with Replay Media Catcher

Ever since the first kick-off, we’ve been scouring the Internet for new streams to archived and live World Cup games. As we mentioned previously, you can capture all live matches on ESPN or iTV with Replay Video Capture. But, how can you find archives of recently played games and download them for future viewing? Well, you’re in luck!

We’ve discovered that you can use Replay Media Catcher to download all recent World Cup games from the BBC archives. Better act fast, because after 1 week, the game is gone. In the video below, we show you step-by-step how to easily download your favorite matches. And, using IPVanish, Applian’s trusty affiliate partner, you can access the BBC site (which is typically off limits to networks outside the UK), and record those amazing games you missed last week or simply want to keep for your archives.

Please enjoy and leave a comment if you have any questions.

Note: selecting High Quality versus High Definition Quality is more reliable for this process and using the Guide view within the program is much easier to find games than through searching the BBC site.

GOOOOOAAAAAAL: World Cup 2014 & Replay Video Capture

Record the 2014 World Cup with Replay Video Capture

World Cup frenzy has officially begun! And whether you’re rooting for your geographical homeland, cultural favorite, or just watching for the fun of it, the month-long once-every-four-years tournament is definitely an exciting event to get “into” even if fútbol isn’t your most-watched sport.

One of the big bummers about the internationally played tournament is that the live games come on at all kinds of crazy times. We’re not exactly big fans of getting up super early on a Friday morning just to see if Spain will make it to the finals, nor would we be very good at our jobs if we left work in the middle of the day to catch a match, so thankfully, we’ve made Replay Video Capture to help you record and keep all the 2014 World Cup action.

Check out our tutorial video on how you can use this (amazing) product to replay the matches at your leisure… preferably in your teams’ colors and appropriate national beverage. (Sangria? Red wine? Tea?)

Stay tuned here for more World Cup fun. We have some stuff up our sleeves! Be sure to check out the free trial of Replay Video Capture before kick-off THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 12th!

Drinking Buddies: This under-rated indie comedy about two friends who take a vacation with their significant others is a far cry from the rom-com nightmares. If you’re looking for the realism, humor, tension and feel-goodness that actual relationships bring, then this one should top the list.

Grammy Time: Performances Worth Recording

As we’re sure you heard, the Grammys were a few days ago. Aside form the actual who-won-what part, the next best reason to watch any awards show is always the performances. This year was no exception. In fact, the show changed it up by giving out 10 awards before the cameras even started rolling, which means that this Grammy show was all about the performances. It got us thinking of some of our past favorite Grammy spectacles… so if you haven’t seen these, get comfy, and enjoy!

Although Beyonce had a seductive performance this year with Jay-Z, we prefer the flawless 2010 moves in “If I Were A Boy”, plus it turns into a perfect cover of Alanis Morissette’s “You Outta Know”… you’ll see:

We don’t want to make you depressed today, but if you need a good cry then watch Eric Clapton’s 1993 Song of the Year “Tears in Heaven”.

We had to post this 2007 performance by Christina Aguilera singing the James Brown classic “It’s A Man’s World”… because, I mean, those pipes. Yeesh.

There’s no way we could assemble a list of best Grammy performances and exclude the King of Pop! Here’s the iconic 1988 “Man in the Mirror” performance from Michael Jackson.

Our favorite performance from this year would have to be the finale jam of Daft Punk’s stellar hit “Get Lucky” with some awesome assistance from disco-royalty Nile Rodgers and the man himself, Stevie-freaking-Wonder. It’s definitely one worth watching, and re-watching, and re-watching…

Of course, you can always record these performances for your own personal archives with our Replay Media Catcher app. Try it here and start collecting all of your favorite Grammy performances!

Which was your favorite live performance of the night? Think any of them were Replay Media Catcher save-worthy? Let us know in the comments.
